How to Light a BBQ Charcoal Stove

Using a charcoal grill is a great way to add some extra flavor to your food. Although it may take a little practice to get the hang of it, you will find it easier to cook your food with a charcoal grill than with a gas grill.
The best way to light a charcoal grill depends on the type of food you are cooking. For quick-cooking foods such as hamburgers, you will need to spread a thin layer of coals over the grill grate. This will keep the food from sticking. You can also add a little cooking oil to the coals to help them light. However, too much oil will cause flare ups.
For slower-cooking foods such as steaks and chops, you will need to use a hotter fire. You can use a thermometer to monitor the temperature. When your grill reaches the right temperature, you will notice the charcoal turn red and turn into ashes. Once the charcoal reaches the proper temperature, you can start cooking.
A good rule of thumb is to use about 30 briquettes of charcoal for smaller grills and 50 to 75 for larger grills. You will need to add new coals about every 30 to 60 minutes to maintain the proper temperature.
To add more flavor to your food, you can add some wood chips. You can purchase food-grade wood chips at any grilling supply store. Just make sure to soak them in water before cooking so they burn slower. These chips will also add a nice smoke flavor to your food. They can be added before or after cooking to add more flavor.
You can also use a damper to control the heat. If you are cooking slower-cooking foods, it is best to cover them. This will help them cook more thoroughly. If you have a gas grill, you will need to allow the gas burner bars to heat up before cooking. You can also open or close the vents to control the temperature of your grill. Opening the vents will allow more air to flow and will make the fire hotter. However, closing the vents will restrict the amount of airflow and decrease the temperature of the grill.
